MOVE TOWARD BETTER HEALTH, NO MATTER WHERE YOU’RE STARTING

Why My Nephew Always Finds It

by | Sep 12, 2024 | Commitment, General Health, Thoughts

I have a nephew who can find anything. Whenever something goes missing in his house, he will find it. Every time. You know why? Because he keeps looking until he finds it. Without fail. He doesn’t give up.

I bet many of you reading this have a lot of weight to lose. And you’ve probably tried losing weight more than once. More than twice. More than ten times.

You know what, there are people out there who’ve lost hundreds of pounds each. They didn’t lose the first time they tried. But eventually, something clicked. Something changed, and they were finally able to lose the weight. They succeeded because they didn’t give up. They persisted.

I am one of those people with a lot of weight to lose but, mostly, I just want to be healthier. I want to be able to move better and stop missing out on things because of my body. So, I’m committing to work toward health by focusing on these six categories (pillars):

  1. Food — I will focus on moderation. I won’t forbid myself any foods but will add ones that keep me fuller and more satiated.
  2. Movement — I’ll do the movement I can do—seated aerobics, strength training with my arms, more steps. Plus, I’ll consciously do more house cleaning to add bending, stretching, and extra movement.
  3. Self Care — I’ll drink more water, moisturize daily, and give myself manicures to keep my nails neat. I am worth it. I enjoy looking at my pretty nails.
  4. Stress Reduction — I’ll focus on two things to start: taking conscious, deep breaths for at least two minutes, several times a day, and journaling. When I journal, I can actually feel my muscles relax.
  5. Sleep — I’ll stop eating several hours before going to bed. I’ll go to bed and wake up at regular times. My goal is eight hours every night. I want to fall asleep easily and wake up refreshed.
  6. Connection — I’m a natural introvert, so it’s easy for me to disconnect from people. But I’ll commit to calling, texting, or checking in with someone online every day. I need it more than I think.

I believe focusing on these six pillars will help me move toward better health.

We’re focusing on one of these pillars every month in the Health Warriors Tribe. If you want to join us for some accountability, learn more about the Health Warriors Tribe here.

I’m not going to give up because I won’t find what I’m looking for if I do. How about you?
