MOVE TOWARD BETTER HEALTH, NO MATTER WHERE YOU’RE STARTING

This is me

Starting a blog is a new adventure for me, and being vulnerable is not something that comes easily. But here I am, sharing my story with you.

I’m a 60-year-old woman who has been morbidly obese for the majority of my life. Even as a child, I had to wear “husky” clothes because of my size. My weight is primarily concentrated in my hips and buttocks, making me significantly pear-shaped.

I am fortunate to have a supportive family and friends who love me unconditionally. They’ve never contributed to my worries about my weight and have always been as accommodating as possible.

My weight didn’t stop me from living life fully until I was well into my 40s. Now, my knees constantly ache, my balance has deteriorated, and I rely on a walker to move around. Although I could use a cane, it hurts my wrist, so it’s reserved for more infrequent outings. Consequently, I spend a lot of time at home, working remotely and having groceries delivered to minimize my need to go out.

Writing all this is a significant step outside my comfort zone. However, I’m on a mission, and it’s time to face my fears head-on.

A few months ago, I decided to create a community for people like me who are battling morbid obesity. My goal is to bring together women who understand these struggles intimately. I want to build a supportive, caring environment where we can share resources and help one another move towards better health.

I’ll admit, my motives were relatively selfish at first—I needed this community for myself. But, as I began this journey, I realized how much I hope to help others like me. Starting this blog requires me to share deeply personal experiences, which is both terrifying and exhilarating.

My ultimate desire is to lose weight, so I can live a more active, fulfilled life. I’m looking forward to going to concerts, taking walks, and fitting comfortably in chairs. So, join me as I navigate this path, embracing my vulnerability and working towards a healthier future.

Welcome to my blog.
